UNICEF turns 75: Fill turns blue for children in need

To mark the 75th anniversary of UNICEF, buildings, municipalities, and companies will light up in blue to show support for children in need.

75 years of UNICEF – from November 20, 2021, World Children’s Day, until the 75th anniversary of UNICEF’s founding date on December 11, 2021, blue light installations all over Austria will draw attention to children’s rights. Machine engineering company Fill will be supporting this initiative.

Gurten, November 22, 2021 – As a widely visible symbol for children’s rights, many landmarks and buildings are being illuminated in blue to increase awareness of the plight of millions of children worldwide. Fill Gesellschaft m.b.H. will also be standing up for children’s rights and supporting UNICEF Austria’s appeal for children in need. That’s why the spectacular Future Tube will light up blue on November 22, 2021. “By drawing attention to our Future Tube connecting bridge, we are clearly stating that children’s rights outrank all others,” explains Andreas Fill, CEO of Fill Machine Engineering.

Acting for a good cause
UNICEF, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, has been standing up for children in need all over the world for 75 years – no ifs, no buts. “To make the world a better place for every child, our warmest thanks go to all those who support our work and stand up for children and their rights. Now, more than ever, in the shadow of the coronavirus pandemic, millions of children and their families around the world face the daily challenge of hunger, illness, and limited learning opportunities. That’s why there’s more to do than ever,” emphasizes Christoph Jünger, Managing Director of the Austrian UNICEF Committee.

Helping as a company
As partners of UNICEF, companies provide a clear signal of their support for a better future. Children can only grow up healthily and attend school regularly if they have access to basic medical care. UNICEF modernizes infrastructure, supplies relief goods, and applies innovations in the field. Governments appreciate the expertise of the UN child welfare organization. This allows the situation for children to be improved at the legislative level. UNICEF helps not only children, but also whole regions and countries. Numerous renowned companies have joined the Austrian “Celebrities and Landmarks Go Blue” campaign, are donating to the good cause, and are having their buildings illuminated in blue.

UNICEF – working for children all over the world for 75 years
UNICEF stands up for every child in more than 190 countries and territories worldwide. The organization works efficiently, transparently, and sustainably for the survival and wellbeing of all children. The Children’s Fund is financed exclusively by voluntary contributions and represented in Austria by the Austrian Committee for UNICEF. UNICEF Austria has been supporting children since 1962 – both in Austria and abroad. In order for this work to be continued successfully, the greatest possible support from society and business is required.
