Multilayer, vaporless particle foam processing et al.

At this year’s Fakuma, Fill presented innovative technologies and sophisticated applications for efficient plastics processing.

Vaporless processing of particle foam (IR pre-foaming), efficient application of thermoplastic tapes with the multilayer, and new production systems for polyurethane processing were just some of the technical highlights presented by Fill at the Fakuma trade fair in Friedrichshafen, Germany. The booth of the Upper Austrian mechanical engineering experts was a meeting point for international experts from October 16 to 20.

Friedrichshafen/Gurten, October 30, 2018 –
“With our product range, extending from product development to quality control, we also help our customers to solve complex challenges,” said Wilhelm Rupertsberger, Head of the Plastics Competence Center at Fill. The Upper Austrian company presented new technologies for the efficient processing of plastics at the Fakuma trade fair in Friedrichshafen. “Our aim is to improve the existing, create something new, and find (sometimes unexpected) solutions,” explained Rupertsberger during the exhibition.

Efficient production systems

The multilayer high-performance tape-laying system and the vaporless processing of particle foams impressed the experts who attended Fakuma. With these developments, Fill has taken a decisive step toward cost-effective and energy-efficient production of thermoplastics. These technologies play a decisive role in lightweight construction in particular. The tape-laying process with the multilayer enables very fast application of semi-finished fiber composites, thereby meeting the prerequisite for high production rates. The vaporless processing of particle foam (IR pre-foaming) was developed in collaboration with FOX Velution GmbH (Lichtenfels, Germany). This new process attracted a great a deal of interest from the international trade fair visitors and led to the Fill exhibition team receiving numerous specific inquiries. The benefits of using this technology range from dry processing with no vapor infrastructure required through to high application flexibility with unlimited material diversity.

Successful partnerships
When developing new technologies and process systems, Fill frequently collaborates with scientific partners and leading institutions. This always gives rise to new, unconventional approaches. Ultimately, these lead to unique and innovative machine concepts that give the customer a decisive competitive advantage.
