The „Fill Time Machine“ paves the way to a new era in casting and machining technology

Fill showed off an abundance of innovations at Euroguss 2024 in Nuremberg. The perfect combination of high-tech mechanical engineering and digital tools ensures added value.

The universal machining technology of the SYNCROMILL series and new solutions for machining large-volume gigacast and megacast structural components were the focus of interest at Euroguss 2024, the leading international die casting trade fair. Upper Austrian machine manufacturer Fill presented the latest results of their intensive development work in Nuremberg from January 16 to 18. Additional highlights were the ROBOCAST V vacuum metering system and CYBERNETICS applications for the digitalization of production and systems.

Gurten/Nuremberg, January 25, 2024 – Fill is internationally successful as a specialist machine builder and systems integrator for a variety of industries and applications. Synergy between the various industrial sectors and material families fosters continuous cross-industry innovation. At Euroguss 2024, Fill presented a whole range of innovations in foundry and metal machining technology.

Passion as the key to innovation
„Our development departments bring great enthusiasm to their work on their projects. This continuously leads to new solutions, with production and processing systems constantly being further developed. The result? Decisive competitive advantage for our customers. They not only bring their products to market faster, but also in a targeted manner. The numerous international visitors to Euroguss 2024 were able to see this with their own eyes. The feedback was outstanding,“ report Competence Center Managers Friedrich Dallinger (Metal Machining Technology) and Thomas Rathner (Foundry Technology).

The SYNCROMILL all-rounder
The wide variety of machines and systems „made by Fill“ in casting and machining technology impressed the international trade visitors. The flexible machine concept of the SYNCROMILL C21-63/600 Y1200 machining center could be experienced live in action. With a 600 mm spindle spacing and 1,200 mm of Y-travel, it was primarily developed for the high-precision machining of elongated electronic casings and profiles made of die-cast metal. The interlinking with upstream or downstream processes can be adapted flexibly to meet individual customer requirements. Fill also offers the most efficient solutions for the machining and automation of megacast and gigacast parts. Equipped with optimal clamping and tooling concepts and specifically tailored automation components, the SYNCROMILL machining technology is the state of the art. For best possible yield, Fill offers the use of highly flexible, driverless transport systems (FTS) as well as robot or portal solutions. Retooling for the implementation of future components is thus already a part of the system concept.

Stable casting process ensures consistent quality
The new ROBOCAST V vacuum metering system, specially developed for extremely productive casting processes for new types of drive components and complex castings, also caused a stir. This casting system is used for low-oxide collection, manipulation, and pouring of molten aluminum, and ensures a consistently high casting quality thanks to constant, reproducible casting parameters.

FILL CYBERNETICS – a new level in digitalization
The CYBERNETICS products are a key component of Fill’s machines and systems. CYBERNETICS covers the entire bandwidth of required solutions – from the monitoring of complex individual operations to automated system optimization using artificial intelligence (AI). The special combination of high-tech mechanical engineering and digital tools results in enormous added value.
