Successful search for future professionals

With a variety of activities, Fill is bringing itself to the fore among young people as an attractive employer and excellent vocational training company.

An effective method to sustainably counteract the skills shortage prevailing in many places is to train apprentices oneself. With the widest variety of activities and measures, Upper Austrian machine engineering company Fill is reaching out to the young people themselves, as well as addressing their environment proactively, and turning the spotlight on its diverse range of training and career opportunities. The campaign launched in September is showing first signs of success. The current total of 160 apprenticeship applications is a very pleasing record.

Gurten, December 20, 2023 – “As an internationally successful company based in Gurten in the Innviertel region, we are both down-to-earth and open-minded. We have been investing a great deal in the development of our young talent for many years now and can therefore offer the highest quality of training,” explains Andreas Fill, CEO and proprietor. In fall 2023, Fill initiated its new apprenticeship campaign “The Next World Project. Our Vision. Your Future.” – a comprehensive overall apprentice training concept, which is already having a positive impact. For the first time, the company has turned purposefully to older people, who can experience apprentice training at Fill live in action in the course of special company tours, and then act as “influencers” by making their grandchildren aware of the diverse career opportunities in the field of mechanical engineering.

Grandma and grandpa as influencers
From the end of November 2023 to April 2024, Fill is offering company tours for the local senior citizens’ associations, with a focus on apprenticeships and training. The visitors can find out more about the company and gain an insight into the state-of-the-art apprentice world at Fill. The itinerary includes a general introduction to the company, the apprentice training program, and development opportunities for young talents at the machine engineering company. Then there is plenty of time for questions over coffee and cake, and the visit is concluded with a tour of the company site and the apprentice workshops.

Great interest among senior citizens’ groups
So far, 36 senior citizens’ associations have been invited. And 23 groups comprising more than 800 people have registered for a company visit. “The high demand and great interest have exceeded our expectations. It looks like we’ve addressed the right target group with this campaign. Today’s senior citizens are active and eager to learn. Especially when something concerns their grandchildren, they show a great deal of interest and commitment,” says Andreas Fill, delighted with the positive feedback. With the wide-ranging activities, the aim is to encourage as many young people – motivated boys and girls – as possible to arrange a taster visit and then opt for an apprenticeship with one of Austria’s best and most modern training enterprises.
