Leading Innviertel company breaks the 1,000 employee mark

26 new apprentices joined Fill Machine Engineering on September 4, 2023, taking the number of staff above the 1,000 mark. A milestone in the company history.

Based in Gurten, Upper Austria, Fill Machine Engineering has won many outstanding employer awards. The internationally successful company is renowned throughout Austria for its excellent training and career opportunities, as well as a range of other benefits for its employees – from an in-house kindergarten through to many shared leisure activities. With the admission of 26 new apprentices at the beginning of September 2023, we have broken the “sound barrier” of 1,000 employees. “Wir sind 1! We are one! – this is the vision in the company’s guiding principles. It stands for togetherness not only in the team, but also with customers, suppliers, and partners.

Gurten, September 12, 2023 – “Enthusiastic young people find the widest variety of development and career opportunities with us. In total, we are currently training 93 apprentices in ten different technical trades. Many of our present-day managers started their careers at the company as apprentices,” explains CEO and proprietor Andreas Fill.

Broad spectrum of apprentice training options
A comprehensive professional training program in one of the state’s most modern apprentice workshops, an apprenticeship with Higher School Certificate, and the “Duale Akademie” (for graduates from an AHS academic secondary school) offer a broad spectrum and provide the young employees with excellent opportunities for their professional future. “We want to give apprentices the opportunity to develop the technologies of the future. We therefore offer state-of-the-art, exciting apprenticeships and try to get young talents interested in technology at a very early stage, for example on taster days, school excursions, or visits to our Future Lab talent foundry,” says Philipp Heissbauer, apprentice training team leader at Fill. The following professions with prospects can be learned at Fill: application development – coding, operating logistics, electrical systems engineering, information technology, design engineering, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, machine engineering, process technology, and technical drawing. Some 600 apprentices have been trained since the company was founded in 1966, and almost half of them still work for the company, many now in senior management positions.

Duale Akademie and agriculture model
With the “Duale Akademie” dual studies program, Fill offers AHS (academic secondary school) graduates direct entry to an occupation with a shorter apprenticeship period and an attractive starting salary. In the “agriculture” model, thanks to the well-rounded training provided at an agricultural college, students have the opportunity to learn various additional technical professions at Fill over a shorter apprenticeship period. And, because not all technology is the same, Fill begins every apprenticeship with a taster day. This allows interested young people to get to know the individual apprenticeship programs, the company, the technological fields, and their future colleagues.

Fill Academy
At the Fill Academy in-house training facility, employees can develop their talents and refine their skills in the best way possible. Apart from specific technical training and further education, Fill offers its team training courses in social competence, communication and presentation techniques, language courses, and much more. Tomorrow’s technical specialists and senior managers are trained at the Fill Academy.
