Wood processing and machining reconceived

At the LIGNA international trade fair, Fill Machine Engineering showed how perfect utilization of digital information can elevate woodworking to a new level.

Planning and implementation of complex large systems demand a high degree of digitalization. Data exchange between the system parts, with control systems and connected storage locations, is just as important as the machine engineering itself here. Upper Austrian machine builder Fill demonstrated this at the LIGNA international woodworking trade fair, which took place in Hannover from May 15 to 19, 2023. Visitors to Fill’s exhibition stand were able to see for themselves the innovative complete systems live in action in graphical animations on the DIGITAL CUBE, a 2 x 2 meter LED cube. These animations showed how high-tech mechanical engineering and digital tools can be combined to maximum effect.

Gurten/Hannover, May 25, 2023 – “Our development departments work continuously on new scenarios for future-oriented solutions. Innovations for optimizing modern woodworking are developed with the competence acquired from years of experience and collaboration with customers and partners. The positive feedback from the many international visitors to our exhibition stand confirms that with our high-tech systems we generate clear added value for our customers in the wood processing industry,” explains Erwin Altendorfer, Head of the Wood Competence Center at Fill, following the company’s successful appearance at LIGNA 2023. Fill machines and systems are considered “state of the art” on the international market for wood processing and machining.

High-tech systems tailored to individual customer requirements
The combination of advanced series production machines, which work with digital information, and the flexible adaptation to individual customer requirements are the hallmarks of the Fill systems. Production of parquet, solid wood boards and their components, as well as surface repairs of plywood, 3-layer boards, and CLT, take place extremely economically and precisely. The new technologies improve quality and increase resource efficiency.

Digitalization is the key
Fill CYBERNETICS products are a key component of all the machines and systems from Fill. Fill CYBERNETICS covers the entire bandwidth of required solutions – from the monitoring of complex individual operations and seamless workpiece traceability, through to automated system optimization by means of artificial intelligence (AI). Not only standard solutions, but also customer-specific and platform-independent dashboards, provide a perfect overview and enable detailed analyses of production and machines. Productivity is boosted sustainably and resiliently. With more than 200 modules of the SPEEDLINER 920-350 HYBRID already delivered, its fine-cutting bandsaw technology is the recognized performance benchmark and this was also to be seen on Fill’s exhibition stand. Using this bandsaw as an example, Fill demonstrated how digitalization products such as CYBERNETICS ANALYZE, CYBERNETICS PRODUCE, and CYBERNETICS VISION can be used to optimize processes. Another highlight of the trade fair were the spot repair machines of the SPEEDFILLER family. They allow all spot repair tasks on 3-layer boards, CLT, or plywood to be carried out in no time at all in consistently high quality.

Trade meeting place
Every day from May 15 to 19, Fill’s exhibition stand was a very popular and highly frequented meeting place for the international trade visitors, with the FILL Cocktail Lounge proving once again to be a communication platform for the industry.
